Introduction

We are now in our fourth year of running Master Class under the banner of Bedfordshire Youth. This year sees a significant change whereby only the Under 14's to Under 17's will operate from January, while the Under 12's and Under 13's will have their Masterclass during Summer. This has the benefit of rducing the workload of coaches and managers during winter and then enabling us to resource the younger members Masterclass with more experienced coaches..

We are starting the year with a Coaches/Managers Briefing session at Ampthill, at the beginning of January.

We hope this year to make significant advances in the development of our young Bedfordshire players, with the improved coaching staff. As you will see from our Objectives we are placing more emphasis on development rather than performance. I still believe, however, that we will yet again see evidence of the strength of Bedfordshire Youth teams from the fixtures we are playing this year.

With Active Sport and the RFU setting up a Junior Academy in Bedfordshire the opportunites for young players in Bedfordshire will increase and hopefully we might see the pathway from junior club, through County to East Midlands supported by closer links between the Senior Clubs (Bedford and Northmapton) and the junior Bedfordshire Clubs.

May we go from strength to strength and see Bedfordshire and East Midlands Sernior rugby flourish as a result of all our efforts.
