Nigel Maklin

Our Chairman, Nigel Maklin, has reluctantly had to resign from his position becuase of work committments. We thank Nigel for all the work he did. Bedfordshire Youth now needs a new Chairman in addition to filling the vacant post of Secretary. Volunteers or recommendations for the two posts will be very welcome.

East Midlands Loses its R.D.O's (aka Y.D.O's)

Both East Midlands RDO's have now left for pastures new. Peter Batch has become RDO for West Midlands and Pat Jerram has taken the job of Academy Manager at Saracens. We wish them both every success in the future and thank them for all the work they did in their time at East Midlands. We are now awaiting news of their replacements, however Helen is still beavering away at the East Midlands office and will deal with any queries you may have about coaching courses and forthcoming events.

East Midlands Mini Junior Rugby Association (EMMRJA)

At the AGM held in December 2001, John Stevens and Bob Ewart (Ampthill) were elected to Chairman and Secretary respectively of the EMMRJA. Unfortunately Tony Curtis was unable to continue as competitions secretary, hence John and Bob will be dealing with the Mobbs tournament until a new Competitions Secretary can be found. Any volunteers?

Active Sports

The final plan for the implementation of the Bedfordshire Active Sports Programme has been completed and it is expected that it will be put up for consideration for a lottery grant at the end of January. This should have a significant impact on the Bedfordshire clubs. We will be opening a new page on this website specifically for Active Sports News.
